Live Cooking Demo: Garnish That Dish

Event Description:

Join Kentucky Farm Share Coalition (a program of OAK) and The Food Connection on Zoom for live cooking demo this August. Chef Tanya will lead you through quick demos on easy ways to stretch your CSA box goodies by creating lots of relishes, garnishes, sauces and add-ons to other dishes. We’ll talk incorporating even MORE vegetables into your diet, quick pickling, fermenting, using up all that kale, stinky Sulphur, and adding zip to traditional entrees.

This virtual cooking demonstration is open to all and FREE to attend. Registration is required. A reminder email with Zoom link will be emailed within a week prior to the event.

Join us for our Cook with a Farmer class this September. Chef Tanya will walk participants through a recipe for vegetable cobbler and ways to cook and eat the varied produce produced at Rootbound Farm located in Oldham County, Kentucky. We’ll chat with farmer Bree Pearsall about their family-run farm, their stories, and the food they love to provide to you. Join Kentucky Farm Share Coalition (a program of OAK) and The Food Connection on Zoom for live cooking demo this July. Chef Tanya will lead you through quick demos on creating fabulous fritters from all sorts of vegetables you’ll pick up in your CSA share. These kid-friendly, versatile treats are great as a tasty way to get more veg in your diet. We’ll talk getting the water out, how much batter is enough, perfect accompaniments, and all the different parts of a meal for which veggie fritters make great additions.

Chef Tanya will offer quick demos on creating a scrumptious salad, making (and customizing) your own vinaigrette, and lots of tips and tricks to create a truly satisfying dish. We’ll talk the perfect salad formula, to wash or not to wash, zhuzhing up your spring greens, and what to do when your CSA share turns your fridge green.

Kentucky Proud Virtual CSA Fair

Event Description:

This second annual statewide CSA Fair was organized in partnership with Bluegrass Farm to Table, Edible Kentucky Magazine, Kentucky Horticulture Council, and Kentucky Proud. It was hosted on Facebook and connected over 65 Kentucky farmers with more than 500 attendees to share more about CSA (community supported agriculture) programs in their area. OAK also organized live farmer sessions by geographic area. Visit the link below to watch these recordings to connect with a CSA farm.
