Cook with a Farmer: Vegetable Cobbler with Rootbound Farm

Event Summary:

OAK was joined by Farmer Ben Abell from Rootbound Farm and Chef Tanya from The Food Connection for a virtual in-depth cooking class featuring a fall vegetable cobbler! During this event, we learned about Rootbound Farm's certified organic farming operation and got to cook alongside Chef Tanya as she wowed us with her pro tips for cutting fresh veg, making stock, and whipping up great-tasting biscuits, and creating a delicious savory fall dish.

Event Summary:

OAK co-organized a week of CSA promotion that featured over 30 partner CSA farms across Kentucky to raise awareness for availability of fresh produce, meat, and other value-added farm products. Live Cooking Demo: Garnish That Dish

Event Summary:

OAK was joined by Chef Tanya from The Food Connection to show off a series of quick demos for carrot top pesto, quick pickled vegetables, fresh pea dip, and beet beurre rouge. These dishes offered tips and tricks to jazz up any seasonal meal, especially those receiving a weekly CSA share.

OAK was joined by Chef Tanya from The Food Connection who led participants through a series of fritters demo that highlighted all sorts of vegetables you can use to make these versatile, kid-friendly, and tasty. She also shared more about how much batter is enough, perfect accompaniments, and all the different parts of a meal for which veggie fritters make great additions. ​

Kentucky Proud Virtual CSA Fair

Event Summary:

This second annual statewide CSA Fair was organized in partnership with Bluegrass Farm to Table, Edible Kentucky Magazine, Kentucky Horticulture Council, and Kentucky Proud. It was co-hosted on Facebook and connected over 65 Kentucky farmers with more than 500 attendees to share more about CSA (community supported agriculture) programs in their area. OAK also organized live farmer sessions by geographic area. Visit the link here to watch these recordings and connect with a CSA farm for an upcoming season.
